A Positive Attitude is Everything

“I’ve found that winners spoke differently. Winners have a better attitude. And when you speak negative about yourself you bring negative results.”—Walt Woodard
Maintaining a positive attitude in and out of the arena is a key component of being a strong competitor. By remaining positive, even during tough situations or after poor performances, you enable yourself to keep your eye on the prize and reach your goals. Everybody wants to win, but sometimes we let our fears or our misfortunes distract us from the real goal that lies ahead. Try to look at the positives of every situation. Just because you messed up your run or performance, it doesn’t mean that the entire run or performance was bad or unsuccessful. Success comes from even the smallest of things so try to remain positive and focus on all of the things that went well rather than the things that didn’t go exactly as planned. Criticism and judgment come with the territory in any competitive environment. If you can remain positive and not deter from your path of success, then that is when the true competitor inside will come out. Someone is always going to have something to say about how or why you are doing something, but remember that you are the only one who can ultimately change the way you perform.
