Adam Steffens & Zicomo De Grand Win the Intermediare II and the Triple Crown® Nutrition Excellence Award at the Gold Coast Opener Dressage CDI
Wayzata, MN (January 28, 2019) – Good health gleams from the inside out, and when Adam Steffens, of Wellington, Florida, entered the ring on Zikomo De Grand, the 14-year-old KWPN gelding’s radiant good looks and winning performance in the Intermediare II at the Gold Coast Dressage Association CDI Opener put them at the top of the leader board with a 69.265% and earned the pair the Triple Crown® Nutrition Excellence Award.
“Our trainer is Debbie MacDonald (two-time U.S. Olympic Dressage team veteran and trainer of the number one U.S. rider on the FEI World rankings, Laura Graves),” Steffens told Triple Crown representatives. “She’s always on top of us about suppleness and relaxation.”
Steffens also keeps on top of Zikomo De Grand’s nutritional program. “We like to keep him happy, sound and fit so we feed him Triple Crown Low Starch. It keeps his metabolism regulated so he doesn’t gain weight, or let his neck get too cresty.” Zikomo De Grand is owned by Jean Vinios who is also a respected horsewoman and dressage competitor.
Triple Crown Low Starch is a grain, alfalfa and molasses free pelleted feed ideal for horses that need additional calories or that tend to have allergies or a propensity toward insulin resistance issues.
“It’s been super for him,” Steffens said. Thanks to Triple Crown, this dressage athlete is ready to move up through the ranks this season at Wellington to the Grand Prix and Grand Prix CDI levels. “We’re getting ready for the next step,” Steffens said.
